PRF Gel True You Medical Aesthetic Dr. Thang Tran

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) gel is a natural treatment that utilizes a concentration of platelets, white blood cells, and fibrin cells to restore volume and address visible signs of aging. PRF gel is derived from a small sample of the patient’s blood, which is processed until it takes on a gel-like consistency. This solution can then be injected into various areas of concern, such as the under eyes, smile lines, cheeks, and marionette lines. Over time, the PRF gel will release various growth factors to improve the quality and appearance of the skin. (1)

About PRF Gel

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) gel is a minimally invasive treatment designed to address visual signs of aging, reduce skin texturing, and improve the overall quality of the skin. PRF gel is a concentration of platelets derived from a small sample of the patient’s blood, and it is known for its regenerative properties. Each concentrated solution contains a high concentration of platelets, leukocytes, and fibrin:

  • Platelets are well known for their tissue repair and wound healing properties, as well as being a source for growth factors.
  • Leukocytes, also known as white blood cells, are a critical part of the immune system and help fight infections and other illnesses.
  • Fibrin is a structural protein that helps the blood clot and release growth factors.

Without these components, cell-to-cell communication for tissue regeneration would not be possible. (1)

Benefits of PRF Gel

There are many benefits to receiving a PRF gel treatment. These benefits may include:

  • Natural Treatment Methods: The risks of allergic reactions and complications are lowered since PRF gel is derived from a sample of each patient’s blood.
  • Collagen Synthesis: The growth factors in PRF gel can stimulate the production of collagen, enhancing the firmness and overall quality of the skin.
  • Smoother Skin: Regular treatments can diminish acne scars and visible signs of aging, such as fine lines and creases.
  • Volume Restoration: PRF gel can be used to restore lost volume in various parts of the face, including the eyes, cheeks, and nasolabial folds.
  • Lasting Results: The results of PRF gel can last several months, with many patients seeing gradual enhancements as their skin’s collagen levels rise.

Suitable Candidates

Suitable candidates for PRF gel treatments include those interested in using natural methods to rejuvenate the appearance of their skin. Patients seeking this treatment typically include those with mild to moderate signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines, in addition to mild skin laxity. Individuals experiencing hollowness or skin texture issues may also find this treatment highly beneficial.

All candidates interested in PRF gel injections should be in good overall health and free from any underlying medical conditions. Realistic expectations should also be held regarding what this procedure can accomplish, as PRF gel offers more subtle, gradual results. Our specialist will determine each patient’s candidacy during their personal consultation.

Personal Consultation

Each patient is asked to attend a personal consultation before their PRF gel treatment. This consultation is not only a chance for our specialists to meet each patient, but also to understand how they can best help. The specialist will evaluate the condition of each individual’s skin and will converse openly with them about their medical history, concerns, and ideal outcome. A treatment plan will then be recommended, with certain elements personalized to help achieve the desired aesthetic. Once agreed upon by the patient, preparation and recovery instructions will be provided, in addition to a price quote.

To schedule your personal consultation, please submit our online contact form or call our office at (408) 223-8818.

Preparation

Each patient will receive a set of preparation instructions from the specialist during their consultation. Patients will need to temporarily discontinue the use of medications or supplements with blood-thinning properties, such as vitamin E, fish oil, and aspirin. The consumption of alcohol should be avoided, and sun protection should be worn when leaving the house. Each patient should also be eating nutritious meals and staying hydrating. On the day of the treatment, patients can eat a light meal and prepare to arrive at their appointment with clean skin, free from any makeup or skincare products.

Procedure

The specialist will lead each patient into a private seating area, where the patient’s skin will be cleansed. A small sample of blood will be collected before it is processed to create the PRF gel. (1) The solution is then injected into the skin, targeting the patient’s area(s) of concern. The duration of each PRF gel treatment can vary, but patients can expect their session to last between 45 and 60 minutes.

Recovery and Results

PRF Gel True You Medical Aesthetic Dr. Thang Tran

While recovery after a PRF gel treatment is minimal, patients should still take care of their skin for the best results. The specialist will provide personalized instructions during each consultation.

Patients are welcome to return to their daily schedules following their treatment, as there is no downtime associated with PRF gel injections. Slight swelling, redness, and mild bruising may be experienced at the injection sites, but these effects are temporary and will dissipate on their own. It is recommended to refrain from physical activities and the consumption of alcohol for the first 24 hours after each appointment. Additionally, any sun exposure should be limited.

Our PRF gel treatment primarily offers gradual results, meaning each patient will be able to see the effects of their treatment continuously improve over time. As each patient’s collagen levels rise, an improvement in the elasticity, firmness, and overall quality of the skin can be seen. Visible signs of aging, such as wrinkles and creases, will be softened, creating a more youthful-looking appearance. (2) PRF gel acts as a natural filler, restoring volume to parts of the face. The results of PRF gel are long-lasting, but many patients choose to receive regular treatments to maintain them. Our specialists can recommend the best treatment plan to help each patient achieve their goals.

Corresponding Procedures

Many procedures can be performed to complement the effects of each patient’s PRF gel treatment, the most popular being our microneedling treatment and dermal fillers.

  • Microneedling: Microneedling is a procedure that creates micropunctures in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing properties. This treatment can effectively address skin damage and uneven texturing, leaving patients with smoother skin and a radiant glow.
  • Dermal Fillers: Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment designed to restore volume in various parts of the face. Fillers can be used to address fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. Some dermal fillers can even stimulate collagen production, leading to an improvement in overall skin quality.

Cost of PRF Gel in San Jose, California

FAQ

Is PRF gel a type of dermal filler?

PRF gel is not technically a dermal filler, but it temporarily has some similar effects. PRF is primarily used for regenerative purposes as opposed to volume restoration.

Can I undergo a PRF gel treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Pregnant or breastfeeding women are not recommended for our PRF gel treatment, but are still encouraged to schedule a consultation so our team can find a suitable alternative.

Is PRF gel the same as PRP?

PRF gel and PRP are similar, and both are derived from the blood, but they are not the same. PRF contains a high amount of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells, while PRP is primarily a concentration of platelets. Additionally, the growth factors in PRP are released more quickly than those in PRF, however, more growth factors are released with PRF. (3)

Will I experience any side effects after receiving PRF gel?

PRF gel is very safe, but patients may experience temporary bruising or swelling at the injection sites. Since the treatment is derived from each patient’s blood, the chance of a reaction or complication is minimized.

How many PRF gel treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed for each patient will vary depending on their goals. After evaluating your skin and learning more about your desired aesthetic, the specialist will recommend the best treatment plan.

Can my PRF gel treatment be combined with another for more comprehensive effects?

Yes, each patient may complement the effects of their PRF gel treatment with another. For more information, please contact our office, and a member of our team will assist you.
