SculpSure

Conveniently located to serve the areas of San Jose, CA

SculpSure, True You, San Jose,

SculpSure is a non-invasive diode laser device that offers patients an effective means of removing fat without anesthesia or downtime. Just like liposuction, it results in slimmer contours, but instead of physically removing the fat, it damages fat cells and triggers the lymphatic system to remove them. It is a safe treatment for patients who have areas of stubborn fat that will not shrink with diet and exercise changes.

The device’s applicators work by heating the underlying fat tissues with laser energy that leaves the skin unharmed. After each short session, patients can return to their daily activities without discomfort and expect results to begin settling in after 6 to 8 weeks. With a healthy lifestyle and diet, patients can maintain their results permanently.

Before and After Photos

“Melt” Stubborn Fat with SculpSure

Attaining the ideal body is a struggle for many; and sometimes, following a healthy diet and regular exercise is simply not enough. SculpSure’s light-based technology is designed to work in multiple areas of the body, including the abdominal area, back, thighs, “banana rolls” just beneath the buttocks, and bra rolls. Research finds that it is even equipped to delicately eliminate submental fat- the fat deposits that accumulate just under the chin. (1) Its laser wavelengths are 1060 nm and non-ablative, targeting fat while harmlessly penetrating through the skin. As the treatment damages the fat cells, they slowly die off in the following weeks, and the body removes them via the lymphatic system as waste. Due to the nature of these light wavelengths, it is suitable for all skin types. (2) With this thermal energy mechanism, patients no longer have to solely consider invasive surgery to attain a highly sought-after athletic look.

The clinicians at True You understand that each patient has unique needs, which is why they will work with you to find a treatment plan that aligns with your desires and level of commitment to treatment. Every session takes about 25 minutes to complete, and most patients report feeling only warming sensations since it gently heats the skin to 107 degrees Fahrenheit. In one study, about 62% of participants described the procedure as provoking mild discomfort, 38% categorized it as moderate, and no one reported severe effects. (3)

Ideal Candidates

Prospective patients with a BMI of 30 or less with highly specific problem areas will notice the most significant results with SculpSure. The best candidates will also have realistic expectations for what the procedure can accomplish. It is important to understand that SculpSure should not be considered a replacement for a more comprehensive weight-loss solution. The procedure may also not be suitable for those with a history of skin cancer, a weakened immune system, neuropathy (nerve damage), or an abdominal hernia that requires treatment.

Personal Consultation

During your consultation, your clinician at True You will ask you about the treatment areas you would like to contour, and they will outline how the procedure will go once you arrive. They may review your medical history to make sure SculpSure will provide safe and effective results. If interested, you can discuss the prospect of undergoing any other cosmetic enhancements at our medspa. The team at our office will make every effort to ensure you feel comfortable with your decision to start treatment.

Preparation

Preparation for SculpSure is minimal, but there are some steps you can take to maximize your experience. Before treatment, you should take extra care to avoid sun exposure so that your skin is healthy. On the day of your session, you should refrain from using lotions, creams, or other topicals on the areas. You should come well-hydrated beforehand to help your body flush toxins and optimize the fat-reduction process.

SculpSure Treatment Steps

The SculpSure device comes with four adjustable applicators that emit the diode laser energy through a flat surface. Your clinician will fit the device’s belt around the treatment area, equipped with frames that hold the applicators in place. They will then attach the applicators, giving them direct contact with the skin. Your clinician will then turn on the non-invasive laser energy, heating the targeted fat cells that will rupture and be processed by the body as waste. You will feel alternating sensations of heat and cool as the laser energy takes effect. You may feel slight pinching sensations, but you will likely find it highly tolerable. If you have concerns about discomfort, you can consult your clinician about your options for a topical numbing cream. SculpSure is the perfect lunch break procedure because, in just 25 minutes, the treatment is complete. Over time, it will reveal a more toned and defined treatment area.

Recovery and Results

SculpSure, True You, San Jose,

You will likely not need any downtime after SculpSure, but you should expect to have some mild bruising, tenderness, and swelling in the area. You should apply an ice pack and consider taking OTC medications like acetaminophen to help relieve any discomfort you may have. Besides these minor effects, you should be able to resume all of your normal activities, including your gym routine. To maximize your results, you should stay hydrated to optimize your body’s ability to flush out the fat cells.

By massaging the area for at least a few minutes twice a day, you can help even out your contours and prevent any lump formation. You should also refrain from exposing the area to sunlight since the skin will be more sensitive to the effects of laser energy. Within 6 to 8 weeks, you will be able to see noticeable improvements, but your final results will not settle in until at least 3 months later. After 2 or 3 months have passed, you can undergo another SculpSure treatment to attain the results you are aiming to achieve. You will likely need 2 or more sessions spaced at least 2 months apart to get your desired results. Luckily, removed dead fat cells do not regenerate, but efforts to maintain a healthy weight and diet are essential to sustain results.

Corresponding and Complementary Procedures

EvolveX

EvolveX is another non-invasive body-contouring device that utilizes two different modalities, electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and radiofrequency (RF), a type of electromagnetic wave that penetrates through the skin to destroy fat cells. Whether your goal is to build muscle or slim down a precise area, your EvolveX technician can customize your experience with varying levels of intensity from each type of energy.

Kybella

Kybella is an injectable treatment that addresses fullness under the chin, directly targeting fat deposits and triggering the body to remove them. It utilizes a natural enzyme called deoxycholic acid to break down these fat molecules. Many patients enjoy that it only takes about a few minutes to complete, and just like SculpSure, improvements can be permanent.

FAQ

What is the difference between SculpSure and liposuction?

Liposuction permanently removes fat cells by surgical means. For this procedure, the surgeon must make a tiny incision and use a thin suction tool to sculpt away the subcutaneous fat in the area. SculpSure does not require any incisions or anesthesia; it utilizes light wavelengths to non-invasively trigger fat cell death. In response, the lymphatic system reacts and removes these cells, and they leave the body via urine.

How many treatments of SculpSure will I need?

Most patients will require at least 2 sessions- spaced 2 months apart- to get optimal results.

Does SculpSure harm the skin?

SculpSure 1064 nm light wavelengths may cause some mild inflammation on the skin, but this effect should resolve within a week. This treatment is suitable for all skin types.

Is there any downtime required after SculpSure?

After a treatment session with SculpSure, patients can return to their daily routine, including physical activities. They may feel a bit tender in the treatment area, but an ice pack can help mitigate this discomfort.
