The Power of Video

Using video in marketing

~ Glenn Akins, Medical Marketing Whiz

The topic I’m going to share with you today is a big game changer for getting a presence on social media and Google search reviews. We are going to talk about the benefits of having a youtube channel. I know there’s a lot of other video upload sites where you can store your videos but I want to talk to you specifically about youtube and I’ll tell you why. I’m going to share some stats with you to show why you should have video on your website.

Eighty percent of people watch video online every day and more than 14 billion videos are viewed online each month. That is a huge amount of videos being watched. And, if you include a video link in the email newsletters that you send to patients, they are likely going to click on the link to see what the video is about.

Also, 9 out of 10 online watchers will share your video with your friends. If you send the video to just one person that can start a chain reaction of people watching your video.
There is a 53 times higher chance of appearing on the first page of a Google search when you’re using video. This is specifically with youtube videos. In addition, if your site features videos your visitors are going to stay on your website two times longer than if you don’t have video.

You have to have engaging content on your website. Video is that type of the content. It is going to engage the audience. They are going to click on it and hear what you have to say.
On top of that, if you’re giving people good value on your website, then your chances of them sticking around longer, opting in, and getting their contact information are much higher.

Where do you store the video? I know it can be confusing how this works. What you want to do is create a youtube channel and then you upload the videos to your channel. You can then copy the link and the code from there and they can be embedded on to your website. We will help you take care of that if you’re one of our Medical Marketing Whiz clients.

Creating a youtube channel, sharing your content in your email newsletters and embedding video into your website are also going to help with your rankings on Google.

Now, why do I keep talking about youtube? Let’s be honest, you never hear people saying “hey go check out my videos”. You hear people saying “hey go check out my youtube page or my youtube site”. That’s why we need to stick with youtube – its where your patient are viewing content. Not only that, but the number one search engine, Google, indexes the content on Youtube so it helps your search ranking when potential patients are searching for the doctor online.

I hope that this gets you excited about doing video. If you haven’t done video yet, you just need to start. The first couple videos you will likely be uncomfortable getting in front of the camera and that’s normal. But with practice, you start to get better and your patients will start to see your personality. It will really help things come together for you. Not only will it help patients relate to you, it will also be good for your search engine optimization.

Hope this helps!
